RICHMOND AMATEUR REGATTA
Saturday 29th June 2019
Richmond Regatta Welfare
Plan
Policy
Statement
The Organising
Committee of Richmond Amateur Regatta believes that the welfare and
wellbeing of all children is paramount. All children, regardless of
age, sex, ethnicity, religion or ability, have equal rights to
safety and protection. All suspicions, concerns and allegations of
harm will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and
appropriately.
A welfare officer /
coordinator for the regatta will be appointed annually and will act
as the point of contact for any concerns or allegations. Their
contact details will be posted in the boating area throughout the
duration of the regatta.
Reporting Structure
The Regatta Secretary, with advice
from the Welfare Officer, has overall responsibility for decisions
and disciplinary procedures.
The first point of
contact during the regatta is the regatta Welfare Officer who should
be contacted via Regatta Control in Buccleuch
Gardens.
If the Welfare Officer
deems it necessary to discuss the matter with the Regatta Secretary
this can also be undertaken at Regatta
Control.
If, after due
consideration, it is necessary to contact the Police the Welfare
Officer will report the matter to Twickenham Police on 0300 123
1212
After subsequent
discussion the Regatta Secretary and the Welfare Officer will decide
if the matter shall be reported to the British
Rowing CPO.
Medical
Provision
Medical provision is
provided by suitable qualified outside agencies for the duration of
the regatta. The medical staff are given a copy of the Welfare Plan
in advance of the
regatta.
Security
The security of
children is paramount and the regatta briefs all members and helpers
regarding the Welfare Plan and asks them to report any inappropriate
behaviour to Regatta
Control.
The regatta is attended
by juniors who usually enter via schools or affiliated rowing clubs
and are therefore under the control of school officials or club
officials and in some cases parents so the risk is assessed as
low.
Personal Contact
Details
No personal contact
details for children are retained by the regatta
Lost Person Policy
The regatta Lost Person Policy may be found here.
Photography
As the regatta takes
place on open public areas (and river) control of photography is not
feasible. All members and helpers are briefed to respond to any
inappropriate photography and in such circumstances report this to
Regatta Control.
